The Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Serbia invites its members and colleagues from the cardiac surgery community to participate in the regional professional meeting “Second Clinical Debates – Advances & Controversies in Cardiac Surgery,” which will take place on 19–20 September 2026 at the Portus Convention Centre in Portorož, Slovenia. Attendance is free of charge, with prior registration required.
The two-day scientific programme is designed as a platform for open discussion and the exchange of experience regarding some of the most important current dilemmas in cardiac surgery. The programme will feature pro–con debates on hybrid versus complete surgical revascularisation, TEER versus surgical mitral valve repair, off-pump versus on-pump coronary surgery, as well as different approaches to the treatment of aortic root aneurysms.
It will also include lectures on xenotransplantation, registries versus randomised trials, and the future of cardiac surgery, alongside hands-on workshops and discussions of complex clinical cases.
The programme will bring together representatives of leading centres from Serbia, including University Clinical Centre of Serbia, the Dedinje Institute, the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases of Vojvodina and University Clinical Centre Niš, as well as colleagues from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and other countries in the region.
A poster session will also be organised during the meeting, and the scientific committee will present an award for the best poster. We encourage colleagues to share their experience, take an active part in the debates and use this opportunity to connect with cardiac surgery professionals from across the region.
