Joint Cardiac Symposium
Dear respected colleagues and friends,
We are pleased to inform you that the Serbian Society for Cardiovascular Surgeons, in cooperation with the Euro-Asian Bridge Society, will be organizing a two-day joint cardiac symposium that will take place at the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade, Serbia on September 22nd and 23rd, 2023.
This meeting aims to bring together a large number of experts in the field of cardiac surgery, interventional and clinical cardiology. It is a great honor to announce that many world and European experts in the field of cardiovascular medicine such as: Emeritus Professor Pieter Kappetein, the Vice President of Clinical Research and Medical Science EMEA, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, and Structural Heart and Mechanical Circulatory Business at Medtronic, Professor and Chair of the residency program at the Thorax center at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, Consulting Cardiothoracic Surgeon. Professor Ruggiero De Paulis from Rome, EACTS former Vice-President (2017-2018) and President (2018-2019), and Associate Professor at Weill Cornell University in New York. Professor Roberto Lorusso from Maastricht University, Editor-in-Chief of the Multimedia Manual for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Emeritus Professor Friedhelm Beyersdorf at Albert – Ludwigs, University of Freiburg, Past president of EACTS, past president of German society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery, and Editor in chief of EJCTS. Professor Antonios Pitzis and Professor Aladin Yilmaz endoscopic cardiac surgeons, together with over 20 guests from the region, the Middle East, Greece, and Turkey have confirmed their participation at the symposium.
The first day of the symposium will be focused on coronary disease and current topics regarding challenges and treatment of this group of patients. The discussion will be focused on an in-depth analysis of the latest studies and results, as well as the strategic selection of treatment for patients with coronary disease.
The second day will be focused on various topics including: aortic valve disease treatment and mechanical circulatory support. Each session will focus on the latest recommendations regarding aortic valve treatment and surgical technique selection with a special focus on the analysis of the results of surgical and transcatheter treatment of the aortic valve disease. The hot topic regarding mechanical circulatory support will be particularly emphasized during the symposium. The heart team will discuss types of mechanical circulation support, time of implantation, heart transplantation program and challenges faced.
